Introducing the RM-Z450 with Suzuki fuel injection. Our engineers developed the RM-Z450 using experience gained developing fuel-injection systems for Suzuki's legendary GSX-R road race bikes and the championship-winning QuadRacer R450 ATV.
The result is the world's only mass-produced, fuel-injected motocross bike, designed to help you blow away the competition. As if that breakthrough technology weren't enough, our engineers used their experience developing Ricky Carmichael's championship-winning RM-Z450 to redesign the RM-Z450's chassis, suspension and brakes. That means it offers sharper handling, smoother suspension performance and more powerful braking than ever.
And just so no one misses the fact that you're on the hottest bike on the track, the RM-Z450 is also completely restyled, with new aerodynamic bodywork that's both sleek and functional. The all-new fuel-injected RM-Z450 - it gives you the power to dominate.
The motorcycle horsepower wars have been raging since the very first Yamaha V-Max was born in 1984 (as an ‘85 model). Back then the V-Max was rated at 145 hp—an astonishing number for the 80s. In many ways, the V-Max was the very first muscle bike. Yamaha paused production of the iconic power cruiser last year so it could focus on building a meaner-than-ever, all-new Max for 2009.
Its bulbous bodywork, jet-like air intakes and sculpted titanium exhaust canisters make the 2009 V-Max appear ready to battle with the most aggressive two- (and four-) wheeled hot rods. Armed with a 1,679cc V-Four and boasting a better power-to-weight ratio than that of a Ferrari Enzo, the Max uses everything from variable length intakes to an Exup exhaust valve and a slipper clutch to lay power to the pavement. The claimed crank output is awesome, at 197.4 ponies and 123 lb.-ft. of torque. A compact, 256 x 56 pixel organic electroluminescent multifunction display echoes the deep functionality of the Nissan GT-R’s Playstation-inspired instrumentation, and can be configured to display everything from throttle valve opening angle to intake air temperature. The large shift light just above the tach looks very much ready for the dragstrip.
An all-new aluminum frame and swingarm help negotiate all that power, and 320mm and 298mm ABS-equipped wave-type disc brakes should provide strong stops after fierce high-speed runs. At $17,990, the V-Max won’t be cheap, but with production limited to only 2,500 units for 2009 this refreshed and reinvigorated hot rod should put plenty of smiles under the helmets of a few lucky enthusiasts.

CHANGES FROM 2007 MODEL
During the cylinder head casting process, the cores for the intake ports were given a special coating to make the intake ports smoother. The extremely smooth surfaces that result increase intake efficiency at all rpm.
New wedge sharp crankshaft webs significantly improve the balance efficiency of the crankshaft. The Balance efficiency of the '08 KX450F is on a par with James Stewart's factory racer. The result is reduced vibration, smoother power delivery and increased performance - especially at low-rpm, where response is noticeably snappier.
New Material for the connecting rod has a harder surface for reduced friction at both the big and small end
The oil pump has revised gear ratios and larger rotors increasing oil flow approximately 10%. The oil pump cover is secured using 5 bolts (previously 4) for increased sealing.
Revised piston jet has a smaller nozzle opening. The reduced tendency of oil to gather at the nozzle opening increases piston cooling performance.
Revised ignition data further reduces the already minimal chance of kickback from the kick-start lever when kicking over the engine with insufficient force.
The transmission gets a revised shift drum and cam for a better shift feel.
Lighter rate shift change springs also enhance shift touch, contributing to smoother shifting
In order to meet stricter exhaust noise regulations, the silencer is a revised design and features a baffle pipe with a new punching pattern. The new silencer minimises power loss.
A new muffler stay bracket and stronger subframe also increases durability.
While keeping high-speed straight-line stability a priority, chassis modifications aimed to improve low-speed cornering and overall ride feel.
New engine mounts incorporating collars hold the engine from a wider position (10mm further out). The resultant slight decrease in torsional rigidity contributes to quicker turning in low-speed corners, increased rear traction and an overall lighter feel.
Revised suspension settings slightly alter the bikes front/rear balance, contributing to quicker turning. The slightly stiffer settings also improve bottoming characteristics.
The front forks have an improved machining process and new low friction coating on the inside of the outer tubes for improved action and feel.
The compression damping characteristics are revised for improved mid-stroke action and rise feeling.
The rear shock absorber tank cylinder also receives the new low friction coating to improve suspension action.
New rear brake caliper guard protects it from damage
New throttle grip provides additional stability during throttle operation.
The clutch cable boot features a larger quick adjuster, allowing racers to adjust play in the clutch cable while on the fly.
The wheel rims are coated in black alumite - just like our factory racers.
