Biography
Demi Moore is a well known name in the Hollywood circle. The actress has been one of the leading ladies in the 80s era. Still recognizable for her legendary movie Ghost (1990) and recently for her marriage to actor Ashton Kutcher who is15 years her junior, this star diva still continues to breath poise, charm and grace.
Born as Demetria Gene Guynes in Roswell, New Mexico, to Charles Harmon, left her mother, Virginia King. She never got to spent time with her father as he had already left her wife even before Demi was born. She spent much of her childhood years in Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, a small town south of Pittsburgh. Moore had the surname of her stepfather, Danny Guynes, on her birth certificate who committed suicide in 1980. Moore's parents were also alcoholics and often abused each other. Moore used to wear an eye patch in an attempt to correct the problem of cross eyed until it was eventually corrected by two surgeries. During this time, she also suffered from kidney dysfunction.
The family after much moving due to Guynes frequently changing jobs finally settled in Los Angels in 1976. Here, Moore attended Hollywood's Fairfax High School, from where she later dropped out at the age of 16 in order to pursue a career in acting.
Career in Movies
She soon found work with European photographers and became a pin up girl. In addition, she also worked at a collection agency. In the early 1980s, she did a series of photo shoots fully nude for Christopher Marrin. Demi debuted in movies with 1982 release3-D science fiction/horror film, Parasite, which was a hit on the drive-in circuit. The part that brought her recognition was that of Jackie Templeton on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital, from 1982-1983. She also did a cameo in the spoof Young Doctors in Love (1982).
Mid 80s earned her the title of as one of the Brat packs with her choice of youth oriented, teeny boppers’ movies like St. Elmo's Fire (1985), About Last Night etc.
The year1990 saw her rising to heights of unprecedented popularity when starred opposite Patrick Swayz in Ghost. She maintained her firm holding on the box office and audience with working in movies like A Few Good Men, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure and The Hunchback of Notre Dame for which she was the first actress to reach the $10 million salary mark. In fact, she was the highest paid actress of 90s.
But with the middle of 90s her career began a downslide in Moore’s uprising career graph. The Scarlet Letter, The Juror, Striptease, and G.I. Jane all failed to recreate the Moore magic. But she got some drops of relief when she produced and starred in TV mini-series, If These Walls Could Talk, written by Nancy Savoca that got her Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress for the role of a single woman in the 1950s seeking a back-street abortion.
She took a brief break from acting and returned to screen with a bang starring in film Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003). 2006 also brought her close to her Bobby fellow co star Ashtn Kutcher, the relationship which later culminated into marriage. Her most recent movie is Mr. Brooks (2007).
Demi Moore married her first husband singer Freddy Moore in 1980 before she was eighteen. The couple got divorced after just 5 years and she again got involved with actor Bruce Willis and married him in 1987. They have three daughters together, Rumer Willis (b. 1988), Scout LaRue Willis (b. 1991) and Tallulah Belle Willis (b. 1994). They separated in 1998 and are still on cordial terms. Incidentally, when she was 7 month pregnant with her second child she posed nude for the cove of Vanity Fair, which provoked much controversy among the masses.
She again walked down the aisle with Ashton Kutcher who was way much younger than her, fifteen years to be precise. She is practicing follower of the Rabbi Philip Berg's trendy Kabbalah Centre religion and has changed her name to Kutcher legally.
