Biography

Jennifer Aniston or Jenny as affectionately called by her colleagues who made the character of Rachel Green from the popular sitcom series F.R.I.E.N.D.S., a legend is still ruling the hearts of people even after the series ended almost four years back. The American actress besides a successful teledom stint also is a well established name in the movie industry.

Jennifer Aniston came into this world on February 11, 1969 in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California, and grew up in New York City. She inherited the gene of acting from her father John Aniston and mother Nancy Dow, both belonging to the school of acting. Aniston has two half-brothers, John Melick (older) and Alex Aniston (younger). The family lived for a year in Greece and later relocated to New York. Her parents separated when she was just nine years old.

She attended the New York Rudolf Steiner School and it was here only that she realized her passion for acting upon joining the drama club. She went on to pursue her interests in arts with a graduation degree from Manhattan's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.

Career in Movies
Upon completing her studies in 1987, she got to perform in off –Broadway plays like For Dear Life and Dancing on Checker's Grave. The year 1989 saw her shifting base to Los Angeles, California also brought her first television assignment starring as a regular on the short-lived series Molloy (1990) and in the TV movie Camp Cucamonga. A quick succession of guest starring roles in shows like Quantum Leap, Herman's Head, and Burke's Law along with an appearance in the critically derided 1992 horror film, Leprechaun, Aniston was just about ready to give up on the acting scene when an audition for the pilot series F.R.I.E.N.D.S. came along.

Incidentally, she went to audition for the role of cleanliness freak Monica but ended up playing suave, heart breaker Rachel Green. The show as everyone knows proved to be a cult one bringing everyone under its spell for 10 successful years starting from 1994. It even earned Aniston five Emmy nominations, including a win for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series”. The sitcom also made her the highest paid television actress with her one million dollar per episode charging for the last two seasons of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Besides this Jennifer also worked in a couple of successful movies like The Object of My Affection (1998), a comedy drama about a girl who falls for a gay man , and in the low-budget 2002 film, The Good Girl, the former won her much critical acclaim for her performance.

Later she also starred opposite Jim Carrey in Bruce Almighty (2003) which is her biggest box office success so far, followed closely by Along Came Polly (2004).

Few more movies later Derailed and Rumor Has It (2005), Aniston, delivered The Break-Up, grossed approximately $39.17 million during its opening weekend.

She also directed hospital emergency room-set short film named Room 10, starring Robin Wright Penn and Kris Kristofferson;

Jennifer was earlier part of the perfect pair made by her and Brad Pitt. But the couple split up in 2005, after reports of Brad falling for actress Angelina Jolie and Jennifer’s reluctance to have babies. Since the couple's divorce, Aniston has been romantically linked with actor Vince Vaughn, British model Paul Sculfor and singer John Mayer.

This power house of talent armed with that heart shaped face actress has announced to the world that she is here to stay. Incidentally, she was voted as the 10th richest woman in the world by ‘Forbes’.
